Briggs 253707 11HP vertical engine flywheel removal
2017年9月11日 · Hi all, trying to do a rebuild on this old engine, but for the life of me, cannot budge the flywheel. Using a two bolt wheel puller, soaking in penetrating fluid, still will not let go. Tried manual spanner on the puller, and even tries air rattle gun, still no joy. If anyone could help with a method to try next, that would be great.

2011年5月26日 · A single backfire can shear the timing key if the flywheel wasn't tightened down properly. Everything here is pointing to that timing key being sheared. Take the flywheel off and you'll probably find your problem. Make sure to use the rope trick when tightening it back down and you'll be good to go!

2009年6月7日 · Here is an alternative way to remove the flywheel, but be very careful. If the engine DOES NOT have a recoil (rope) starter, you can remove the flywheel nut and then screw it back on to the crankshaft until it is FLUSH whit the top of the crankshaft.

Or you can wedge a short pry bar under the flywheel and put tension on it, then give a good whack on the crank snout with a hammer. I've done it before in a pinch but don't recommend it, done some damage in the past. :trink39:

2013年10月3日 · I usually do not remove the flywheel to change the sump cover gasket. I remove the pulley on the bottom of the engine, remove the 6 bolts attaching the sump cover and remove the sump. Usually makes an easier job if you sand the rust and crud from the lower crankshaft so that the sump cover slips off easily.
