The GMUG offers over 3,000 miles of trails, four scenic byways, five peaks over 14,000 feet in elevation, 10 wildernesses, over 3,600 miles of perennial streams and elevation ranges from 5,800 to 14,309 feet.

The GMUG National Forests have 56 developed campgrounds scattered across the forest in a variety of landscapes from open meadows, creekside riparian areas, to higher elevation aspen, and evergreen forests.

The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest includes: Special Heritage Places, designated Wilderness areas, Research Natural Areas, Special Interest Areas, Roadless Areas and five peaks over 14,000 feet (fourteeners). Learn more about special places at the GMUG.

Following the 2021 publication of the draft plan, the GMUG National Forests with the National Forest Foundation hosted a series of virtual webinars and open houses to provide an orientation to the draft documents and to host community conversations.

2024年7月22日 · GMUG Revised Forest Plan Finalized updated July 22, 2024 The USDA Forest Service has released the final revised land management plan and final Record of Decision that will guide the long-term management of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison national forests in southwestern Colorado.
