In 2017, the City of Gretna recently partnered with the Tulane Regional Urban Design Center to come up with a concept that better addressed neighborhood, ecological and environmental needs within Gretna City Park.

As the highest capacity stormwater park in the New Orleans region, Gretna City Park offers a model for how to pair infrastructure with amenities, risk reduction with quality of life. Gretna has a variety of parks and recreational fields to offer its residents. Within 5 of the Gretna parks, there are nine shelters that may be reserved. To reserve a park shelter a Park Reservation Form must be completed and the appropriate fees submitted (including rentals by non-profits).
