TWD is crap at telling anything that makes the plot better as far as understanding motivation, and it's almost always up to actors to shed light on anything that makes their character more relatable. Andrea is probably the prime example of this as her entire personality in s3 was to honor Dale, and her pre apocalypse life as a lawyer.

But the haters didn’t enjoy hating her, they wanted her gone. The writers failed the character and the actress. Laurie Holden does an amazing job but I hate this argument.
