HFNC vs Venturi mask dilemma : r/Residency - Reddit
2024年1月15日 · HFNC provides peep, Venturi is good for those that are on the inbetween flows like 9L-12l, after the oxymask came out we almost never use the Venturi anymore. You’ll also find your super claustrophobic patients will tolerate the HFNC better than the mask.
HFNC in adults. Looking for help with protocol assignment.
2018年4月8日 · Student about to graduate here. I'm doing a protocol for HFNC (optiflow, etc.) in adults for a project. There are plenty articles and research in the neonatal and pediatric populations, but there's nothing definitive for quite a few elements of HFNC use in adults (most literature on adult HFNC use mentions this shortcoming).
HFNC and flow : r/respiratorytherapy - Reddit
2023年8月1日 · The ability of HFNC to generate positive pressure (CPaP) is misrepresented. All the patient has to do is open their mouth and the pressure is gone. There has also been too much variability in pressure generated and flow, though there is correlation.

2021年6月16日 · HFNC is really only pratical with a LOX system. In my area thats a heli only option for the time being. Its that or bringing multiple back up mains for not overly long transports which doesnt seem like a good approach.

Sats improve when going from high flow to low flow oxygen?
2024年5月3日 · Flow and FiO2 are controlled independently on HFNC setups. You can control the FiO2 coming out of the cannula but the amount of oxygen concentration the patient actually receives depends upon factors like inspiratory demand, flow, FiO2 setting. As you switch from HFNC, 20L/45% to a 4L NC, you reduced the flow but inadvertently raised the FiO2.
ELI5: high flow NCs : r/respiratorytherapy - Reddit
2023年5月21日 · HFNC washes out the upper passageways and provides fresh air, effectively improving CO2 clearance and being able to provide more O2. The ability to provide PEEP depends on cannula size, whether the child has their mouth open, the flow rate set, size of the kid in relation to the flow, and whether there’s a pressure pop off in the circuit that ...
Help with ABG Interpretation and Treatment : r/respiratorytherapy
2024年6月26日 · My experience has been that a nonrebreather is just something you use temporarily until you intubate. I would have skipped the HFNC and BiPAP and gone straight to intubation because with those gasses, the patient is going to end up intubated anyway.

2023年4月30日 · The reason I push vapotherm over other HFNC is because of the study that was referenced and the FDA, which is a difficult organization to work with, labeled vapotherm as high velocity nasal insufflation. If all the other HFNC brands were the same they would have replicated the study to show they are the same as vapotherm and cheaper.
