MDOT's GIS Unit develops and maintains enterprise GIS databases, linear referencing systems, web services, ArcGIS Online, Open Data Portal, GIS news, GIS training, and Transportation Asset Management System (TAMS) implementation.
MDOT applies a “mix of fixes” asset management approach to keep as many roads in good or fair condition as possible with the resources available by applying the right fix, in the right place, at the right time. Through the Capital Preventive Maintenance (CPM) and Rehabilitation & Reconstruction (R&R) programs, fixes are
relevant manuals, Michigan Test Methods (MTMs), MDOT Standard Plans, and MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction (Standard Specifications) that is current as of the advertisement date unless otherwise specified by the contract.
