Raiden is the eternal God of Thunder, protector of Earthrealm, and arguably one of the most powerful characters in all of Mortal Kombat. After the second defeat of Shinnok, he ascended to the status of Elder God. As a result of his divine nature, he possesses many supernatural abilities, such as the ability to teleport, control lightning, and fly.

Raiden (Japanese: 雷電) is one of the main protagonists of the Mortal Kombat franchise. He was portrayed by Carlos Pesina from Mortal Kombat to Deadly Alliance, with Ed Boon and the late Allan Stagg voicing him in MK 4 and Deadly Alliance respectively. Michael Garvey played him in MK Mythologies: Sub Zero, and Dan Bakkedahl in Shaolin Monks.

Raiden has saved Earthrealm time and again by rallying the bravest and strongest warriors of the day to defend it. After centuries of kombat and bloodshed, he fears unintended consequences for humanity, and himself.

Raiden is content to remain in Fengjian, unlike the more adventurous Kung Lao, who laments their mundane life on the farm. This prompts Raiden to challenge Kung Lao to a bet - the last to fill their cart pays for dinner at the Teahouse. The two are seated by Madame Bo herself later that evening and are questioned about their training.

Raiden As Earth's sworn protector, Rayden finds himself banished in the merger between Earth and Outworld. When the Elder Gods refuse to assist him in aiding the Earth, he is forced to take matters into his own hands.

Raiden is the God Of Thunder, protector of the Earthrealm. He is also one of the strongest characters in the Mortal Kombat universe. His status was one step below the Elder Gods and he managed to defeat the fallen Elder God Shinnok with the help of other Elder Gods.

Aware of the danger that Shang Tsung and his tournament poised to the future of Earth, Raiden assumed mortal form and fought in Mortal Kombat as well. He is also the only one to have witnessed Sub-Zero's death at the hands of the hellspawn ninja spectre Scorpion.
