While the University logo system is available to all Michigan Tech colleges, schools, and departments, unique identifiers are available. They include the department name with the University logo and name.

The University seal has a limited and narrowly defined use. It is reserved for all Michigan Tech formal documents and official papers. The seal is also displayed on items and publications that announce, promote, or commemorate formal University functions, such as commencement. The Michigan Tech logotype has widespread use.
