2020年11月2日 · Petco is a privately traded company too, but the new CEO that came on around 2 years ago has some standards as a decent person. Not quite as cool as, say, Costco, but not bad at all. Our "Puppy Guides" are free, for starters (and we also have seperate ones for reptiles, fish, cats, birds, & small animals).

2017年4月24日 · My petsmart boy got sick Within a week of having him (he's fine now). On the other fin, my dragonscale rose tail from petco is father to 2 broods of children and shows no sign of ever being sick in his life. On top of that petco displays their better imo. I'm also fairly certain my local petco changes their bettas water daily and feed them as well.

2023年11月5日 · Live plants, go for either Petco or third party online. Plants ship in bad conditions regardless if it is to Petco or your house. And you have limited selection in store vs the third parties website, AND they should guarantee live arrival. Petco sometimes has decor like rocks in bulk but it depends on the store.

My local Petsmart seems to have prettier bettas than my local Petco. They also seem more healthy, generally. My nearby local fish stores are arguably worse than both, and I can't find any local breeders near me (San Jose CA)

2018年2月15日 · Personally, I don't like either one. Petco and petsmart are both hit or miss. Occasionally you'll luck out and find a highly competent trainer working at petsmart or petco, but that's not the norm from what I've seen. Neither store is better or worse--it all depends what the individual trainer happens to be like.

2019年3月3日 · Livestock prices are about the same. Supplies are typically a little cheaper at PetSmart. Totally depends on the store but petco offers stores way more flexibility. Aquatics managers can order almost anything and can potentially care better for fish. That being said petsmart is far more consistant.

2022年8月8日 · Petsmart does not. We will literally adopt out snakes that refuse to eat frozen thawed because it’s against our policy and we don’t condone it. Another, Petco associates aren’t allowed to add anything outside of explicitly stated standards to habitats.

2014年2月6日 · Petco carries a better range of healthy food options (grain-free and fresh-frozen diets for cats and dogs) than Petsmart does. Treatment of in-store animals seems to vary by location for both chains, but honestly neither corporation should sell live animals and neither trains their employees to be credible sources of animal care information.

2020年2月15日 · Not much difference between Petsmart/Petco. Petco has a thirty day return policy on its small live animals, Petsmart is 7 days iirc. Smaller pet stores may allow you to handle the hamsters before purchase. Usually no return policy and they can be more expensive. 2021年3月3日 · Now that we are getting our second puppy soon during COVID times, I called both Petco and Petsmart to ask about their puppy classes. Petsmart can apparently have up to 7 dogs in a class. Petco is only doing 2. Petco also has AKC STAR Puppy/CGC testing. I went with Petco ultimately for the AKC STAR testing.
