2006年3月30日 · I have a 99 FLSTF and currently ride mostly local but with some trips up to 150 miles or so. I'm thinking about taking a few longer rides (500 plus miles). Anyone ride their evo softail long distance/cross country? Does the vibration drive you crazy? Are there any mods that could reduce floorboard vibration? Thanks. Lloyd

2024年2月7日 · Softail for tensioners and bearings, Evo for the inner cam bearing and lifters. If it’s 1998 or later Evo, it will have better lifters from the factory. I’ve had both generations, and if you’re not sentimentally attached to one versus the other, I would go with Twin Cam.

2004年12月13日 · The problem with long rides on a rubber mounted Evo is NOT going to be vibration, rubber mounted Evo's are smooth bikes. More likely a problem on a long ride will be "monkey butt". Some talcum powder (no kidding) before you start the day will help, as will frequent stops, and perhaps a different saddle.

2008年5月13日 · Feeling inferior? An 80" Evo does NOT have more power than an 88" Twin Cam, in stock configuration, nor with simple air-cleaner & pipes change. The EVO is a great motor, but not sure what your point (if you have one) is. And a rigid mounted EVO in a softail frame gives a BUNCH of "buzz" that many people don't miss with the Twin Cams.

2021年7月29日 · If it’s fuel injected, it’s the old style Magneti Martelli EFI system. They’re finicky and hard to find parts for. Use that as a bargaining chip to talk the price down. Also ask the seller to leave the bike cold before you get there so you can see how easily it starts. Other than that, it’s an Evo. Those are very reliable motors.

2024年12月7日 · So riding my Evo softail custom today, I have a hot flash on the back of my leg only to realize the dipstick tank plug is out. Unable to pull over, I pushed it back in only to completely lose it several minutes later after checking it several times. I was able to replace it with a twin cam dipstick which turns out to be slightly larger.
