The 2009 Southeastern Conference football season started on Thursday, September 3 as conference member South Carolina visited North Carolina State. The conference's other 11 teams began their respective 2009 season of NCAA Division I FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) competition on Saturday, September 5. [ 1 ]

A total of 15 SEC contests will be streamed live on CBSSports.com concluding with the SEC Championship Game featuring the Eastern and Western Division champions on Saturday, Dec. 5 (4:00 PM, ET). Additionally, the 110th Army-Navy College Football Classic, the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl and the Brut Sun Bowl will be streamed live on CBSSports.com.

No SEC team may appear on CBS more than five times, with an rare exceptions allowing for a sixth appearance. ESPN/ESPN2 has the rights to twenty regular season games and at least an additional thirteen games will air on ESPNU.

In 1996, CBS signed a deal with the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to carry a weekly slate of regular season games (billed as the SEC on CBS), as well as becoming the television partner for the annual Army-Navy Game. In 2019, CBS declined to renew its rights to SEC football, with the package ultimately going to ABC beginning in 2024.
