So that cuts down manufacturing costs versus something like a 6AV6, which is just a single triode (or double diode which won't work as a gain stage). They're also the highest gain version of the 9 pin miniature dual triode types. And we sure love gain!

When changing between the 50 and 25 watt settings the tone is really different. 25 watt (triode) is much warmer, rounder, and a little more spongy. More bluesy, vintage-y maybe.

2017年12月11日 · The tubes have well balanced triode pairs and a very even flat response. Compared to a Tung Sol it sounds a bit flat, but so does a NOS Mullard. Microphonics is not an issue despite the larger that average plate structure. The transconductance on my sample was the same as two NOS samples I measured.

The supply sag created by the power transformer resistance lowers not only the plate voltage, but the screen voltage as well, since the screen is nearly always a filtered version of the supply going to the plate.

2011年9月26日 · Have been all over the map from the new Vox custom heads to Bad Cat Cub IIIr, 3rd Power Dual Citizen and the Maz 8, which is most appealing to me right now because it's the lowest-powered of the bunch (while still having some of the versatility of pentode/triode plus reverb) and the studio combo is a nice form factor for me.

2017年5月18日 · The channels are out of phase because the extra triode in the reverb channel (slight gain stage) inverts the signal. I believe there's ABY pedals that invert the signal but I'm not sure that's going to solve the problem.
