In fluid dynamics, a Kármán vortex street (or a von Kármán vortex street) is a repeating pattern of swirling vortices, caused by a process known as vortex shedding, which is responsible for the unsteady separation of flow of a fluid around blunt bodies.

These vortices are known as the von Karman vortex street and can be readily reproduced in the laboratory. In the following movie, an isolated "mountain" is seen on the bottom of a rotating tank. The mountain is 3cm in diameter and 2.5cm in height.

Here, we study a wide range of vortex wakes including regular and reverse von Kármán streets with various strengths, geometries, and Reynolds numbers (Re) by applying a smoothed von Kármán street as an inflow condition.
