It is a unique challenge that serves up a variety of different target types that are great for practicing both shooting skills and hunting scenarios.

Five Stand is a type of shotgun sport shooting similar to sporting clays, trap and skeet. There are five stations, or stands and six to eighteen strategically placed clay target throwers (called traps). Shooters shoot in turn at various combinations of clay birds.

Similar to sporting clays, our 5-stand [game] field has eight traps throwing targets from several different directions. At each of the five stations, there are five different targets or combinations of targets presented to the shooter. Each shooter moves through the individual stations and completes one round of "5-stand" with 25 shots.

NSCA 5-Stand Sporting Clays is a compact game that fits on a standard skeet field (or similar area). Shooters course of fire is set on a menu. Each machine is numbered so the shooter knows which targets will be attempted (no more than two at a time). A maximum of five shooters can participate at the same time on each field.

An alternative to a traditional sporting clays course that smaller shooting ranges and sportsmen’s clubs are taking advantage of is a relatively new shotgun game called Five-stand Sporting Clays, or simply Five-stand.
