Rated by its peers as one of the best college marching bands in the country, the Panther Band was ranked among the top-ten bands in the nation by the College Band Directors National Association in 2013 and the top-five among the Southern Division in 2012 and 2016.

The Georgia State University Panther Band is pleased to present the Georgia State Marching Band Championship (GSMBC). With the addition of Georgia State Stadium (formerly Turner Field) to the University campus, we are able to offer students, directors and spectators a first-rate venue for a late-season marching show.

Rated as one of the best college marching bands in the country, the band has achieved numerous accolades, including ranking in the top ten bands nationally by the College Band Directors National Association in 2013 and among the top five in the Southern Division in 2012 and 2016.

The marching band was formed in 2010, along with the university’s football team. The band was founded with the help of Dr. Chester Phillips, director of athletic bands, who is still leading the band along with the help of T. Devin Reid.
