The one in Louisville looks like a Depot, and comparing these places to other private membership retail outlets is a losing proposition, at best. If you expect service go someplace else. I have purchased a lot from RD, but if they were gone, no biggie, I can get this stuff on line, occasionally less expensive.

A membership in the KCBS or SLBS also gets you in the door because those organizations are both NP and members with RD. RD just doesn't want a bunch of randoms in there strolling the aisles buying one thing.....it's hard enough to navigate through there already. They cater to the restaurant guys with multiple carts buying $1000's a day or week.

However, their website claims it's members-only and the member qualification requires that you present a business license or similar evidence that you are in the food service business.

The cleanliness and quality of the store varied tremendously. The store close to my parents in north Minneapolis is dive bar quality. The store in south Houston/Pasadena a couple days ago was very nice. And they easily offered me a day pass because my account, even showing them my membership card, had dropped from their system because of lack ...

I'd never heard of KCBS or Restaurant Depot. Now I've submitted my app to join one and identified the (2) locations for the other here in San Diego (and can't wait to get my card so I can check them out.
