The Poopsmith is just a regular guy with a really crappy job. He spends his days shoveling you-know-what from one place to another. This tends to keep him out of most social circles. PomPom and The King of Town tolerate him, but Strong Bad doesn't treat him very well. Except for that time that he baked The Poopsmith a cake.
