The Leuchtpistole 34 or flare gun in English was introduced into German service before World War II and served throughout World War II. The Leuchtpistole 34 was a single shot, break action, smoothbore, flare gun designed and produced by Walther that was a successor to the earlier Leuchtpistole 26.

The official name of the flare gun was "Leuchtpistole Model 1894", and it was designed by the "Ingenieurkomitee des Heerespionier-Corps", as the use of flare guns was initially linked to trenches and fortifications that sorted under the engineering corps.

Pyrotechnic Flare Pistol Model M2. Nice solid brass body with composite plastic handle plates. The plates are marked "International Flare-Signal Co. Tippecanoe City, Ohio Made in U.S.A. Patent No. 1712382". The left side of the barrel is marked "Pistol Pyrothechnic-M2 No 14019 INSP. F.A.M. U.S. Property" and has the ordnance corps' crossed cannon.

Every Leuchtpistol 42 is steel construction, 26.5 mm, and bears original German maker code; euh, that stands for- C. u. W. Meinel-Scholer, Klingenthal in Sachsen.

This WWII-era German aluminum flare pistol, manufactured by Erma-Erfurt in 1942 and marked with the code "ayf 42," is in excellent condition. The factory finish shows minor wear on the barrel and on the edges likely from holster storage, and retains its original waffenamt 280 proof mark.
