Now its reverted to etch,filler,etc.etc. Both schools of thought are still out there.All I know is that I've done it both ways with several brands and never had any issues. PPG ,Ditzler,and HOK.

2016年7月13日 · Wash and dry as soon as possible. Then spray with 2 coats of epoxy. Since yours has etching primer on it just scuff it down with a red scotchbrite pad. Then you can spray it with epoxy with 1:1 activator. No Reducer This is why I think etching primer is a waste of time and money. After spraying with etching primer you have to seal it.

2006年3月7日 · 1k Etching primer is not a bad primer, 2k is just more aggressive, in the etching process. 1k primer can also cause body work to lift where as 2k will not do this. in other words if you 2k etch you can putty coat & or mud right over the 2k etch, where as 1k is best if primed first before body work is started to be really safe.

2014年2月26日 · That is the black primer in most cases on the panels, and yes it can be scuffed and sprayed straight over, however it is better to scuff and primer IMO. There are such a variety of primers out there, and many that are designed to be a base for other primers. If you have bare metal, etching primers are good, as well as some epoxy primers.

2000年4月12日 · The self etching primer really locks into the bare metal and gives it good corrosion resistant but it's not real tough - which was the reason for covering it with a layer of the primer surfacer. When the body work in an area was finished I sprayed the self-etching primer on all bare metal followed again by the primer surfacer.

2006年6月24日 · I would use that U-tech epoxy. Etch primer is an old dead technology that belongs in the trash can. An urethane primer surfacer is what is referred by "2K" primer. This product is the product you apply block sand, apply more til its straight. Its one soul purpose is to level out the surface thats it.
