2008年7月21日 · There is a known issue that can cause the 00588 DTC. Long and short of it, 1 vendor made the clock spring, another vendor make the terminal housing. The terminal housing plugs into the clock spring, but the shunt inside the terminal housing can still make contact with the terminals and thus cause a "resistance too low" fault.

2009年2月25日 · once upon a time.....by a very cold morning of january, my airbag light didn t want to turn off. i asked to a friend to scan the car and he found the code above 00588 related to the igniter of the driver side airbag. he cleared the code and by another cold morning of febuary, the light came back again which the same code.

2018年8月16日 · Unplug the battery and wait several minutes before doing anything related to airbags or airbag wiring. That code if for the clock spring. I have the same code myself after changing the clock spring 2 year ago it has come back. It is under the airbag on the passengers side. Search for some old topics that i have made and you will find your answer.

2008年9月26日 · Today, without warning, I noticed my airbag light come on while driving. VAG-COM scan of my 2006 MK-V Jetta TDI revealed the above code, 00588, and after some digging in the Bentley DVD, I located the TSB for this problem. TSB says with this problem, the Airbags still function normally although the warning light stays on and a code is set.
