Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) is a Pan-India single number (112) based emergency response system for citizens in emergencies. Each State/ UT is required to designate a dedicated Emergency Response Centres (ERC) to handle emergency requests.

Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) is the vision of Govt. of India to launch an integrated emergency response system with a single emergency number 112, to address different emergencies of citizens. ERSS is designed to address all emergency signals received from citizens through voice call, SMS, e-mail, panic SOS signal, ERSS web portal etc.

112 is an internationally recognized, easy-to-remember emergency number, to get assistance in various emergencies like Police, Ambulance and Fire. 112 emergency number can be connected through phone call, SMS, e-mail, panic button and '112 India' - mobile App.

The App will send emergency alerts with the user's details(name, age, emergency contacts) and location information, along with a generated call to ‘112’ - to the State Emergency Control Room and the person’s emergency contacts. The system forwards the emergency alert to nearby online local volunteers if available.
