This set of PCBs allows you to build a vintage 1176-type FET compressor. Here are the key features of our 1176 module: Compact construction - up to four channels of 1176-type compressor fit in 1U enclosure. Easy wiring - most controls are mounted on the front panel PCB which connects via IDC-type connector to the main PCB.

The UREI 1176 is a classic audio compressor designed by Bill Putnam et al. and first built in 1967. It has a characteristic quality that remains popular to this day. While versions of the compressor are still commercially available, the adventurous will want to build their own.

The Gyraf G1176 was the first recreation of the UA/UREI 1176 specifically for DIYers. The G1176 is based on revision F of the 1176LN, but with some allowances made for modern components. Instead of the original class-A output stage, the G1176 uses a simpler push-pull circuit.
