Pere Marquette 1225 is an N-1 class 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotive built in October 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works for the Pere Marquette Railway (PM) in Lima, Ohio.

At full power, this steam engine consumes 4.8 tons of coal and 7,750 gallons of water per hour. #1225. The 1200 series locomotives were used in fast freight service on the Pere Marquette Line from 1937 - 1951. In 1957, #1225 was placed on display on the Campus of Michigan State University as a monument to Michigan railroads age of steam.

The Pere Marquette 1225 was delivered in October, 1941 as part of the railroad's Class N-1 Berkshires (all three types varied very little amongst one another), which included road numbers 1216-1227 that were capable of producing 69,350 pounds of tractive effort.

The PM 1225 once lived on the campus of Michigan State University. Before it moved to Owosso, it spent some time on a siding along Trowbridge Ave. in E. Lansing. The GT unit would end up on the Adrian & Blissfield Railroad as their 1751.

Pere Marquette No. 1225 was built in 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works for the Pere Marquette Railway, where it worked hauling freight in the mid 40s and 50s. 1225 was retired from active service in 1951 and was sent to be scrapped in New Buffalo Michigan.

1225 departed Owosso on the evening of August 2, 1991, coupled (behind diesels) to Tuscola & Saginaw Bay's local way freight. The consist headed to Ann Pere Junction, where the steamer and its support cars were set out and transferred to CSX for the rest of the night's run to Plymouth, Michigan.
