2024年5月20日 · If powered at 14v, the amp draw increases to around 7 to 8 amps. LED is fine when powered with the 12v, but is greatly over heating at 14v. In searching internet for solution to reducing the 14v to 12v, I came across similar issue where there was a need to reduce 15v to 12v and the suggested solution was the use of a 0.6R 25w resistor.

2011年10月2日 · It can take a large short period current spike since the heating is small over a time average compared to continuous current and its associating heating. The 1N4007 diode voltage drop at 1 amp is 1.1 vdc so it will be dissipating 1.1 watts at continuous 1 amp flow. At this current it will get pretty warm.

2009年3月11日 · Solar panel is 12v, 3.5A. As far as I know there is no diode on its output. (How would I know, or test for that?) I'd like to leave it hooked up to 2 different battery banks rather than manually moving it from one to the other. Both are 12v deep cycle marine batteries, though different capacities.

2012年11月18日 · No, the peak reverse voltage across the diode is only 12V (same as the supply voltage, not twice the supply voltage). When the FET shuts off, the diode becomes forward biased, and conducts. The turn-off time of the diode is unimportant. It should turn-on quickly, however. In the OP's application, I also would have used a Si rectifier like a 1N400X.

2022年12月24日 · Yes, a silicon junction (not Schottky) diode in series should reduce the capacitor charged voltage about 1/2 volt. Its current rating would need to be at least 10A and would need to be mounted on a heat-sink if the steady current drawn is more than a couple amps. 2016年3月27日 · I say keep em and put them to good use in lower voltage projects. In a 12 - 24 volt application 1600 volt 50 amp rectifier is going to be really hard to kill. Gross overheating due to inadequate heatsinking would be about it. Just don't be surprised if you see a .9 - 1+ volt forward drop if you are running them near a 50 amp RMS current level.
