Number 17 Squadron (sometimes written as No. XVII Squadron), currently No. 17 Test and Evaluation Squadron (TES), is a squadron of the Royal Air Force. It was reformed on 12 April 2013 at Edwards Air Force Base, California, as the Operational Evaluation Unit (OEU) for the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning.

XVII Test and Evaluation Squadron are based at Edwards Air Force Base in California. They became the RAF's first Typhoon squadron (in the operational evaluation role). Aircraft flown have included the Hurricane I & II, Canberra PR7 and the Tornado GR1.

No. 17 Squadron (Golden Arrows) is a squadron of the Indian Air Force stationed at the Ambala Air Force Station as part of the Western Air Command. [2][3] The squadron was number-plated in 2016, but was resurrected in Ambala on 11 September 2019 with the Dassault Rafale. [4]

No 17 Squadron was formed at Gosport on 1 February 1915 and after a period of training embarked for Egypt in November. On 24 December, it began to make reconnaissance flights over the Turkish lines in Sinai, also flying in support of troops engaged with Turkish army units in the Western Desert.

The Squadron stood up almost immediately at Edwards AFB, California, on 12 April 2013 as the joint RAF/Royal Navy Test and Evaluation Squadron for the new Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning under the name of No. 17 Test and Evaluation Squadron (TES)

17 SQN along with CCCU, 18, and 38 SQN set out to Hibburt park for Exercise Pukeko over the weekend. Cadets took part in some awesome activities such as top team, sports games, a movie night, a walk around the lagoon, and building some creative and extraordinary sandcastles.
