The Military Government of Santo Domingo (Spanish: Gobierno Militar de Santo Domingo) was a provisional military government established during the American occupation of the Dominican Republic that lasted from May 13, 1916 to September 18, 1924.

From 1916 to 1924, the US government occupied the Dominican Republic, mostly because a chaotic and unstable political situation there was preventing the Dominican Republic from paying back debts owed to the USA and other foreign countries.

Triggered by concerns about possible German use of the Dominican Republic as a base for attacks on the United States during World War I, the U.S. Government began a military occupation and administration of that country in 1916, which would last until 1924. U.S. occupation caused considerable Dominican and international opposition.

The Dominican Republic was placed under military government by the United States on November 29, 1916, Rear Admiral (then Captain) H. S. Knapp, United States Navy, issuing the proclamation on that date.
