Bayonets M1917 'Eddystone' - Great War Forum
2013年4月11日 · So Eddystone Arsenal did not make any of the bayonets. This is just another case of 'collectors terminology' being very broadly and also incorrectly used. I guess it's like calling the P1907 the "SMLE bayonet" - yes it is the bayonet that goes on the SMLE rifle, however the "Eddystone rifle" does fix the M1917. Cheers, S>S
!917 Bayonet does not fit Model of 1917 Remington?
2018年4月4日 · The initial bayonet in this series was a variation of the P1888 bayonet. In 1907 the "Japanese"* sword bayonet was adopted. This bayonet initially had a large hook quillion but this hook was discontinued early in the war. For Lithgow production the hook quillion appears to have been manufactured until about October 1915.

2018年5月31日 · Since your bayonet is marked 1917, it would have had a scabbard like these, originally. Hopefully the attached pics make it clear why the US scabbards had the wire loops on them. (Although to be PRECISELY correct, an early pattern 1903 pattern belt like this would have been unlikely to be issued with a 1917, but the method of attachement is the ...
1913 Bayonet with '17 Reissue mark - Page 2 - Great War Forum
2014年10月6日 · If this photo really is July 1916 then it is a very early delivery P14 rifle. The British Govt had accepted fewer than 10,000 rifles from Eddystone by the end of June 1916 (the first 10 Eddystone rifles were accepted at the end of March 1916, HM Govt had accepted only 2130 by the end of May) and allowing for delivery/issue time this must have been one of the …

2014年10月6日 · The first deliveries of a total of 100,000 of the Pattern 1907 Sword-Bayonet made in the U.S.A. by Remington were received into Britain in July 1915. Deliveries of the Pattern 1913 Sword-Bayonet made in the U.S.A. by Remington commenced in early May 1916. Deliveries of the Pattern 1913 Sword-Bayonet made by Winchester commenced a few weeks later.
1913 Vickers bayonet a fake? - Other Equipment - Great War Forum
2008年10月16日 · It looks to me like a bayonet for a P14/M1917 Rifle. Why the March 1917 marking, I've no clue as I'm under the impression that Eddystone, Remington, and Winchester produced bayonets for the P14 Rifles they made, leaving Vickers, etc to produce bayonets for the No 1 Mk III Rifle. The 1913 would simply mean it's made to the 1913 pattern.
1917 Winchester Bayonet - Information Needed - Great War Forum
2024年2月19日 · OK so the bayonet was produced for the US in 1917/18 - it is virtually identical (save markings) to the British Pattern 1913 bayonet which it had been produced as previously under contract to the UK. It may have been issued and used in WWI (The US used a lot of them) , no real way to tell.
P14 ID Question - Arms and other weapons - Great War Forum
2010年11月6日 · The correct bayonet should have British markings (such as the "X" for the bend test) on the ricasso and not have the US flaming bomb. If it has that it is a US Model 1917 bayonet. They all have the two grooves on the grips, originally put there to distinguish the bayonet from the Patt.'07 for the SMLE. Regards. TonyE

2024年3月21日 · My point is that the bayonet, scabbard and buff leather frog were used by British, Commonwealth and Empire forces in WW1 and is a relevant topic for the forum. I cannot find the book at present, but I have a photo of British ceremonial guards in Jerusalem in 1917 (possibly early 1918) wearing the P88 buff leather equipment.

2020年1月10日 · Also fitted inside the case is a like new Remington 1917 dated bayonet. The rifle's history is unknown after 1917 until the year 1940, when it was fitted with a 1918 Model telescopic sight. On the side of the scope it is engraved with "Donated to King and Country for the war effort, London Home Guard, August 1, 1940" followed by the rifle's ...
