1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards (QDG) is a regiment in the Royal Armoured Corps (RAC) of the British Army. Nicknamed The Welsh Cavalry, the regiment recruits from Wales and the bordering English counties of Cheshire, Herefordshire, and Shropshire. It is the senior RAC cavalry regiment and therefore senior regiment of the line of the British Army.

There are no official lists of KDG RSM’s, or indeed when the appointment started. Names and approximate dates given here have been found in the process of research. 1815

Whilst 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (QDG) is a thoroughly modern 21st Century reconnaissance regiment formed sixty years ago, it also one of the oldest regiments in the British Army. Its roots spread back well over three hundred years to 1685, before the formal formation of the British Army in 1707.
