We just losst our transmission (2009 Escape) at 27,000 mi., third problem. First was a major repair to transmission at 11,000, a recall and now ours is sitting in CO waiting for someone to look at it as we were driving to the West coast. We will trade it in when we get home!

The Focus auto tranny is crap also and though the 2015 is not as bad, that stumbling issue is still there. Would never ever ever buy a Ford product even though I almost got a 2014 Escape before the wife said "no way in hell" would there ever be a Ford product in our garage.

2005 Escape with 4 cyl, automatic, bought new, pampered, dealer changed trans fluid at 30,000 and 60,000 miles, converter blew at 68,000 miles, out of warranty. Never towed with it, no mountain driving. Transmission shop mechanic said Ford had known problems with this trans back to the late 1990's when it was in the Mercury Mystique. (AKA Mistake).

If you're considering an Escape, I would see if you can find a 2013 Titanium with the features you want. For 2014 Ford dropped the SEL trim but added leather seating (I prefer the cloth/leather combo) and rear camera to all levels, dropped as standard, hid's, rain sensing wipers, roof cross bars, tonneau cover and most important the 2.0L EcoBoost.

In May 2014 had purchased a 2001 Ford Escape XLT. There was no issues with Transmission and Engine and always checked the fluids. May 2015 driving on I-75 north headed to work, the Ford Escape started to lose acceleration. Pulled vehicle over the shoulder. No burning oil in engine or trans. Put car into park and turned off engine.

Common problem, with previous recall 14S05 in 2014 reprogramming the PSCM and IC module. Internet search found that Ford is now rejecting the many claims by Escape owners having to replace the steering column assembly CL8Z*3C529*D at a cost of approx $1,500.

Ref #34: Our 2010 Ford Escape XLT also makes that noise. We had the transmission re-programming recall; didn't help the noise problem. It has something to do with the differential in the transmission and Ford says that all 2010 Ford Escapes make that noise. I do not accept that answer but don't know what else to do.

I have a 2006 Ford 500 sedan. I got a letter from Ford regarding a recall for throttle body issues. I already had the transmission rebuilt while it was still under warranty because it kept slipping when accelerating or decelerating and they supposedly updated the car's computer.
