20MnCr5 steel (1.7147 material) is an European standard carburized steel (case hardening steel) with high strength and toughness and good hardenability. The quenching deformation is small, the low temperature toughness and the machinability are good, but the welding performance is low.

20MnCr5 steel is a low alloyed engineering case hardening steel for parts which require core tensile strength of 1000 – 1300 N/mm² and good wearing resistance. It is used in boxes, piston bolts, spindles, camshafts, gears, shafts and other mechanical controlling parts.

20MnCr5 is a case-hardening steel with low carbon content but good hardenability reaching good wear resistance due to high surface hardness after hardening. The small grain size benefits in good ductility and fatigue strength. Suitable for gearboxes and axle gears.
