22450 CVC - Running Stop Sign - California Law & Penalties
California Vehicle Code § 22450 CVC requires you to stop at stop signs. This code section also imposes specific rules as to exactly where you must stop at intersections and railway crossings. Under California law, rolling stops are not permissible.

What CVC 22450 Requires from Drivers. Under CVC 22450, drivers must come to a full stop before entering an intersection with a stop sign. A rolling stop, where the vehicle slows down but does not fully stop, is a violation of this law. After stopping, a driver must yield to pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles that have the right-of-way.
