The 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (French: 2e Régiment étranger de parachutistes, 2e REP) is the only airborne regiment of the Foreign Legion in the French Army. [5] . It is one of the four infantry regiments of the 11th Parachute Brigade and part of the spearhead of the French rapid reaction force. [6][7]

2e REP is the only regiment of the 11th Parachute Brigade which trains its own paratroopers. The Legionnaires spend their parachute training in Calvi TAP within the walls of the regiment.

Soldiers of the 1e REP wanting to go onto the 2e REP must first pass a tough selection course. This has been undertaken in recent years over the course of two months abroad. Here the nearly fortnight long days and nights combine with the precipitous terrain and dangerous fauna to test the legionnaire paratrooper to the limits.

Furthermore, it is the successor to the 2nd Foreign Parachute Battalion, which fought in French Indochina.

2023年10月9日 · There is one issue with the deployments though. 2REP is a rapid reaction force, and is usually only used in large scale interventions à la Mali 2013, Côte d’Ivoire 2011, etc. For smaller type deployments, including low intensity peacekeeping, 2REP is not that useful, and loses out in deployments to other legion and French regular units.
