Jan 21, 2010 · I have a 2WS in my 2000 Star and its was only rated for 475hp although now its flashed to a 7CZ. I ran it stock for a long time and it would keep up or outpull all our 550s. Not sure why theres a big fuss over the 6NZ.

Dec 14, 2012 · The wrecking yards were asking between $5500 to $7000 for a running 2WS with no papers or history. I got an MBN that was rebuilt at CAT 2 years ago with papers,some warranty and all history from new from CAT for $9,000

May 22, 2016 · I've done a lot of internet searching and made a few phone calls and can't seem to get a clear answer on this. I'm looking at a couple of trucks for sale, both have 2WS 3406E engines rated at 435hp. I'm going to want to bump it up to 475 or 550hp and want to know if they have the internals to handle it, specifically the pistons.

Oct 13, 2011 · The 2WS and 1MM are LOW NOX from the factory.....the only thing you can do about this is have them flashed with a modified file, because CAT never wrote a file for these engines without LOW NOX. All files written after DEC 99 are LOW NOX files.

Apr 20, 2015 · The 58 or 8502 Reman injectorswill not be any part of a Platinum kit from Cat for a 2WS engine. The max injector size will be 57 or 8501 from CAT with this kit. Also the 58 or 8502 injector will achieve much more then a 70 hp gain.

Jul 19, 2009 · I have a 99 Peterbilt with a 2WS 550 3406E with 1.2 million miles. I had just gotten fuel, started the truck pulled away from the fuel island and heard a miss. Couldn't get it to do it but one more time that evening. Only missed at a low rpm. Got out on the road went through the gears and never missed a lick.

Jan 23, 2010 · Cummins ISX was replaced with a 2ws (set at 550-600 horse, 80mm non wastegated turbo) caterpillar engine at 600k miles 2ws had a complete platinum overhaul. Cat engine currently has 400k on it since then. Recently had a turbo come apart (broken shaft, shrapnel everywhere) . We replaced turbo, cac, and air filters.
