2015年9月30日 · The old HDD is a 3.5" unit which ran on win 7. the old drive is a Samsung HD502HJ/b (part No.) and is in working condition. I am wondering if it requires a driver of its own? Or something a more diverse problem like a usb 2.0 or 3.0 conflict, maybe. I am quite elderly and would appreciate any help from a kind person willing to help.

2016年2月13日 · The 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives use the same type data and power cables, it's the PATA drives that are different. When a 2.5" drive is removed from a Notebook/Laptop there are adapters or portable cases one can get that can allow plugging into USB port, I use them frequently when working on various computers.

2020年4月19日 · ( Whether your HDD has the 3.3 Volt pin is a different issue. In that case your HDD will not be recognised unless you mask that third pin) ( Recently I unboxed two Seagate backup plus portable external drives - one 1.5 TB and another 5TB. Both did not have the 3.3V pin. I plugged those into my ORICO dock and they worked straight away.

2021年3月12日 · And the drives no longer work well. Opening the root directly is ok, but opening one of the root folders takes forever to spin up. Something like 1.5-2 minutes. I timed it once. Then, opening up folder further also takes a long time. The drive has video files on it. Files take a long time to load up and stutter and crash often.

2021年9月6日 · Yeah, that looks like my best bet. I've been looking for the min / max volts of the data lines, some state it can be as low as 0.5 v and I've seen 5 v also. I don't want to pick an LED / resitor combo that will drag the power down too much. I have an old laptop with what I call the best connector ever on, SATA and USB in one.
