In November 2021, the wing began transitioning to the new KC-46 Pegasus air refueling aircraft.

Lineage. Constituted as 305 Maintenance Squadron on 20 Dec 1950. Activated on 2 Jan 1951. Redesignated as: 305 Field Maintenance Squadron on 16 Jun 1952; 305th Maintenance Squadron on 1 Jun 1992.

ABG was redesignated the 305th Combat Support Group on 1 June 59. The 305th Bomb Wing officially moved the same day, without the 305 ARS. Initially transferred to the 306 BW, they moved with their KC-97s to McGuire AFB, NJ in January 1960 to support SAC and TAC trans-Atlantic deployments.

The 305th Air Mobility Wing is a United States Air Force strategic airlift and air refueling wing under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command. It generates, mobilizes and deploys C-17 Globemaster III and KC-46A Pegasus aircraft.
