2012年12月2日 · It's true 4mm radials are just teetering on the edge when it comes to CCC on a 32a breaker. It's one of their limitations, and probably why the ring is still so popular! My …

2019年10月8日 · Socket Rings: Three separate ring circuits are often used for sockets around the home, one upstairs, one downstairs and one for the kitchen. Each separate ring is fed from the consumer unit via an individual 32A type B circuit breaker and a separate 30mA RCCB via a split load board or a combined 32A/30mA RCBO device.
Cable sizing for radial circuits - Screwfix Community Forum
2011年11月8日 · 4mm2 radial on a 32A breaker is a standard circuit which has already been derated. The only downside (if you can call it that) is the relative cost of the cable. For 100m of 2.5mm2 T&E you will pay upwards of £50.00 plus VAT (and that is if you are in the trade).
Is a radial circuit on 32A breaker a fire risk? - MyBuilder
2011年10月16日 · It all depends on the cable size, If the circuit is wired on a 4mm then yes a 32a mcb is fine, but if it's only wired on a 2.5 then it should be a 16a mcb. And yes a 30ma rcd must be installed ASAP. Current regs stipulate that everything should be covered by an rcd in cavity walls chased in less than 50mm. Hope this helps Steven SJN Electrical Ltd
Radial circuit and cable thickness - Screwfix Community Forum
2009年11月16日 · Hi, I have been reading a little, which is probably my first mistake, and I have picked up on the fact that a radial circuit with 20A breaker can have 2.5mm2 cable, but a 32A radial circuit needs 4.0mm2, while a 32A ring maing only requires 2.5mm2. Can anyone explain this in plain english?
32A Radial on 4mm cable? Surface mounted in trunking?
2014年10月21日 · When the electrician fitted the consumer unit he put in a double socket on its own dedicated radial circuit just beneath the CU. It's a 32amp fuse using 4mm wire clipped direct. I intend to extend this radial to the new sockets. Can I use 4mm wire for this if its surface mounted in plastic trunking?

2016年4月9日 · Unfused spurs off a 30/32 A radial. One single or one twin using 2.5 mm sq. As many as you want using 4.0 mm sq. Fused spurs – as many sockets as you want but remember the maximum 13A fuse in the spur! Best practice: Keep the number of spurs as low as possible. Multiple spurs off a radial circuit could be a sign of poor design.
4mm Radial off a 32A Ring - Wiring and the Regulations BS 7671
2022年1月22日 · The ring is 2.5mm fed by 32A MCB. I know that I can run a single fitting (e.g. 2-gang socket) off a ring as a spur. Alternatively, I believe I can run a fused radial off the ring as the fuse stops excessive current doing down the radial. However, can I run a 4.0mm radial (unfused) off the ring as a 4.0mm radial is rated to carry 32A (single phase)?
Cable size on sockets | Talk Electrician, Electrical & Wiring Forum
2024年10月28日 · A 4.0mm 32A radial, or a 2.5mm 20A radial may be a better, more economical and safer solution for many socket circuits. A broken ring circuit can appear to work but it leaves many potential dangers, and it should never be amended / extended without first confirming the ring integrity and correcting all anomalies found prior to doing any ...
