2006年7月24日 · Another thing to take into consideration is the age and size of the bull. This bull is very mature. There can be a foot difference in shoulder hight between a 280" bull and a 350" bull. Also, a bull with great tops can seem larger than he realy is. -A 280" bull with great tops at first glance comming through the trees can look like a 320" bull.

To a first time elk hunter a 240 bull looks big. First, look for the number of points. To even have the potential for a good score, look for at least 6 pts per side. Next, look at width and mass.

2005年2月3日 · A 300 class bull usually has eye guards and brow tines that are less that the diatance from his eyes to the end of his nose. The third tines are about the same as the brow tines and the fourth is generally 18 inches or less. (The distance from the antler pedicle to the end of the nose on a mature bull is about 16 to 18 inches.)

2007年10月22日 · As an elk guide for more than 10 years, in New Mexico, I can tall you that killing a 300+ is a tough feat, becasue there arent a lot of them around. But, as to what to look for it probably should be 45 inches plus in width. So, if you look at the front of the bull, its rack should be 3 times as wide as its shoulders.

2022年6月20日 · I'm curious with my first elk permit this year. I would like to know what a elk right around the 300 inch mark looks like. Put up some pictures. It would help to be able to see some 300 elk that way if I seen one or even one bigger I have an idea of what I'm looking at.

2017年2月16日 · Rio Grande Reservior does get hunted hard, and the elk get pushed back farther and farther. It's a good area with great trail systems, and lots of day hikers. Lots of great areas in 76, but don't expect a 340" bull in every basin. Like I said, Jake and Sal Powell spend a lot of time in 76, and worth trying to contact.
