The 300 WSM cases are 2.010 vs 2.015 for the 358, and we are moving the 358 shoulder forward about 0.104 going from a 20 to 35 degree shoulder. I may just let the necks grow to make 2.015 if i don't lose too much case length in expanding the neck.

2020年8月25日 · If the OP wants a .358 WSM have at it; however, I have found the 35 Whelen to be a tough one to beat. What I find people doing is reading a lot of hype about the various "new" cartridges on the market when there's some really great "ole" cartridges that will outperform the "new" cartridges at half the costs of the "new" cartridges.

2022年5月12日 · I found and bought a lot of the Winchester .325 WSM brass when it became available. I needed it for the .325, .338 and to test the .35 WSM. The .35 WSM was for an acquaintance who liked everything .35 as well. It's a well behaved and powerful enough cartridge for most intermediate distance elk hunting.

2010年7月15日 · Search for the .358 Grant, it shows the steps you would need to take if starting with the WSM case; it will be similar for the others too. My rough calculation is that the 1.8" version would increase case capacity by 19%. I'm guessing that could put you in .35 Whelen territory. I'd call it the .358 NSSM (Not So Short Magnum). Patent pending.

2004年2月19日 · I was thinking the same thing. Had the idea a while back about making one of the new BLR's in 358 into a 35/300WSM should be a simple rechamber and a new bolt head and WSM magazine from one of the 300 WSM guns and it would be done. Seems like one of the simpler conversions to me.

2025年2月20日 · A 358 on the 6.5 PRC case might solve some feeding issues in the Ruger action. I believe that was the whole reasoning behind the 375 Ruger case. The 375 Ruger/PRC case is just a little narrower than the WSM/RUM cases, so it feeds better in some actions.
