The Smith & Wesson Model 39 is a semiautomatic pistol developed for the United States Army service pistol trials of 1954. [1] After the Army abandoned its search for a new pistol, the Model 39 went on the civilian market in 1955 and was the first of Smith & Wesson's first generation semi-automatic pistols. [1]

2009年11月10日 · A check for type (wide/long original style or short/narrow -2 style) along with a careful eyeballing for any cracks or deformity. In that 30 years, I have not seen a single 39-2 with a punch mark. In my opinion, any 39-2 in original condition is likely to be 100% reliable out of the box with proper cleaning & lubrication.

2020年5月4日 · S&W came up with the Model 39, and it was a single stack 8-round 9mm pistol, with an Aluminum frame and it weighted in at about 28-ounces. This was ground-breaking at the time, a full-sized 9mm handgun, that was lightweight, and it fired the 9mm round – wow!

Over time, for reasons I don't recall I foolishly sold that 39-2 to a good friend, who later sold it to my youngest brother.

The same features as the original first-generation model, but is distinguished by a shorter coil-spring-actuated extractor. Note that some S&W Model 39-2 hammers have a hole drilled in them and some do not.

2022年9月30日 · S&W used to sell an adjustable sight that dropped right into the cut for the rear sight, and that's how you installed it. A wooden toothpick might be sufficient to lift out that front tab, if not, something plastic can do it. I did that on my old 39-2, and I thought it made a big difference in my particular pistol.

2020年6月23日 · Design of the 39-2 was US’s first double action semi auto. Original model was the 39 and after some mods, the 39-2 came along. Except for a limited all steel version, the frame is aluminum. Excellent feel in the hand. I’ve owned a few over the years.
