3C 345 - Wikipedia
3C 345 is a blazar / flat spectrum radio quasar located in the constellation of Hercules. It is noted for hosting a superluminal jet [3] and its variability in almost all wave bands. 3C 345 has an active galactic nucleus that has been categorised as a blazar or as a flat spectrum radio quasar.
New blazar 3C345 flare - the most powerful since October 2023
2025年3月2日 · The blazar 3C 345 shows an increase in the optical spectral range after 16 month of rather quiet behavior after flare with R = 15.2 mag in October of 2023 (see ATel # 16306). According to our estimates its brightness varied between 16.6 and 17.3 mag since November of 2023 till last January.
measurements expand significantly our ongoing monitoring of 3C 345. In this contribution, we discuss the properties of the jet and its moving components in the immediate vicinity of the core « 3mas). 1. Introduction The 16th magnitude quasar 3C 345 (z=0.595) can be regarded as thearchetypical source for studies of superluminal motion.

Animation of a series of radio images of 3C 345 at 10.7 GHz over the span of 5 years, if the object was really extragalactic at 1700 MegaParsecs as most cosmologists claim, its jets would be exceeding 7 times the speed of light !
Title: Can FSRQ 3C 345 be a Very High Energy Blazar Candidate?
2023年12月9日 · We perform a detailed spectral study of \emph {Fermi}-detected FSRQ 3C 345 using synchrotron, synchrotron self Compton (SSC) and EC emission mechanisms. The simultaneous data available in optical, UV, X-ray, and γ -ray energy bands is statistically fitted under these emission mechanisms using the χ2 -minimization technique.

3C 345 is one of the best studied of the so-called superluminal radio sources. It is a core-dominated radio source with a jet that has been studied for more than 20 years using VLBI, and it has been shown that a number of components have been born and have moved away from the central nucleus (Vermeulen & Cohen 1994 ; Zensus, Cohen, & Unwin 1995 ).
Can FSRQ 3C 345 be a very high energy blazar candidate?
2023年12月9日 · In this work, we study the VHE property of the FSRQ 3C 345 through a detailed spectral study involving simultaneous multiwavelength observation in optical/UV, X-ray, and γ-ray energies. Temporal study of the source using multiwavelength light curve by Fermi and Swift suggests the emission at these energy bands are well correlated.
