Starting 2.0, the 4c engines need balancers,which makes them more inefficient. Check the 2.4 dohc engine of the Chrysler pt cruiser.

2023年8月11日 · If you're going to use it for towing, then I strongly suggest you get a V6 because the towing capacity with the 4 cylinder engine isn't much. I got a 4 cylinder because I only use it for ladders, lumber, and tools. I get 23 mpg on highway and 18 in the city. I'm very happy with my 4 banger and glad I didn't get a 6 cylinder.

FYI, Porsche made a 3 liter 4 cylinder. EDIT: Take the following with a huge grain of salt. The reason large displacement 4 cylinders don't exist is because of efficiency. Let's say you have a 3.3 liter 4 cylinder engine. Either the cylinder bore need to have a very large diameter, or the stroke needs to be very long.

The 4.0 is stronger than the 3.4 but I’ve heard grumbling about the transmission searching while under a load. All 3 are reliable motors as to be expected from Toyota. Personally, if I was to get a city truck to load camping and surfing stuff in, I would go with a 5 speed 4 cylinder.
