The 422d Test and Evaluation Squadron is a United States Air Force unit. It is assigned to the 53d Test and Evaluation Group, stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The squadron performs operational testing of all fighter aircraft and munitions entering and in operational use by Air Combat Command.

From testing and tactics development programs to training schools and venues, the USAFWC provides Airmen with proven and tested technology, the most current tactics, superb training and a unique opportunity to practice integrated force employment.

The 422d Test and Evaluation Squadron (422 TES) is a United States Air Force unit. It is assigned to the 53d Test and Evaluation Group, stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The squadron's World War II predecessor unit, the 422d Night Fighter Squadron was assigned to Ninth Air Force in England, as a P-61 Black Widow interceptor unit.

422nd Test and Evaluation squadron has a unique task. Before any hardware (aircraft) or software is accepted in the US Air Force, it’s operationally tested by the 422nd TES. Known as the “Green Bats” the squadron operate out of Las Vegas, Nellis Air Force Base. The Bats fly the latest and greatest, like the F-22 and F-35.

The unit conducts operational tests for Air Combat Command on new hardware and upgrades to each of five aircraft (F-16C, F-15C, F-15E, A-10C and F-22A) in a simulated combat environment. The 422nd TES also develops and publishes new tactics for these aircraft.
