The .45 Colt can be loaded above .44 mag pressures. Walmart here used to sell 44-40 but it was 45.00 bucks per 50 rounds. I have a 44-40 and like it better than .44 mag but that's just nostalgia.

If you have some .44 special ammo but no gun that takes that cartridge, sell, give, trade the ammo to someone who does have a .44 special.
