2014年4月3日 · 2008 Toyota Prius aboiut 45K miles, just did 3Kx2 Cross Country, and now I notice a “roaring” constant sound from about 35 - 50 mph. Seems to subside at higher speeds, although this may just be that the sound is being drowned out by freeway noise (and radio!). Mileage has remained consistent, and no performance issues observed. Maintenance is current. Ideas on what this could be?

There is a mechanical clutch that should “lock up” in higher gears at 45+ mph in order to improve gas mileage. When the clutch slips under load, it produces a shudder-type vibration.
