2020年3月19日 · After building a bolt action 460 S&W with a 22" barrel and finding that the cartridge has more potential, I decided on a 26" barrel in a TC Encore to save overall length. Using the 200 grain Hornady factory loading I found 500 ft/sec more velocity in the 22" barrel than in the 8.5" HVR pistol.

2014年7月28日 · My brother has one of the x-frame 460 s&w pistols with the 8'ish inch barrel and he's running a re-swaged hardcast 405 grain (knocked down from .458" to .452") pushed by a start charge of little gun (hodgdon data). If you don't have a lube-sizer you could buy 395 grain cast in .452" diameter and get the same performance.

2015年7月16日 · They have very nice bolt action rifles based on the Remington 700 action that shoot both the 450 Bushmaster and 460 S&W Mag Improved (which I believe is a 45 Raptor). Both of those cartridges are legal in the shotgun areas of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

2017年2月20日 · I Recently purchased a 460 S&W and was looking for the optimum (Not the heaviest) bullet weight for hunting. The big revolver will push a 300 grain XTP MAG over 2,000 ft/sec and appears to be ideal for all round performance. Load data shows a range of bullet weights from 200 grain @ 2315 ft/sec to a 390 grain @ 1800 ft/sec.

2006年10月27日 · Sir, I have been shooting the .460 for awile now. I use the S&W 10inch PC hunter revolver. I agree with 50-Driver on the heavier bullets. Right now I am working a lighter round than what 50 is describing. I generaly will shoot from sticks or a bench. I love the round. right now I am useing H110 and 240gr. Hornady XTP's.

2009年10月9日 · I had a Burris 2x7 with illuminated reticle on my 8 in. S&W 460 for many years until a few months ago. I put a Sig Romeo 5 red dot on it that I took off an AR. As Gunin4m said, the power changes eye relief. I didn't like to pull it closer to my face on 7 power. I like how the Sig is motion activated. Nice incase of grizzley incounter.

2022年3月5日 · The 45 Raptor uses .458 Bullets and should not do well with the .452 Diameter bullets. (Required for the 45 long colt, the 454 Casull and the 460 S&W) Glad you have had good luck with the TC bullets, and the FTX in .458 Diameter, but I cant use any of the .458 bullets, so I use the Magnum pistol bullets in .452 diameter.

2017年2月20日 · The SAMME pressures for the 45/70 are 28,000 cup's to 40,000 cup's. the 460 S&W is 65,000 PSI's the same as modern Magnum rifles . The 460 S&W pushes a 200 grain bullet (Factory load) to2409 ft/sec In my short barreled rifle it exceeds 2900 ft/sec. In fact it is almost the ballistic equal in the pistol as the 450 bushmaster is in a rifle.

2012年2月17日 · The 460 S&W is in a league by it's self as far as I am concerned and combined with the right combination of hand gun/rifle it is awesome. The revolver uses a gain twist barrel (25 to 12, I Think)to start the heavy bullets without jacket shear and this must be taken into account on a fixed twist rate barrel.
