2018年12月27日 · FYI - none of the ranges I use allow steel core ammo, so I don't shoot the 62g stuff at all. My 16" Virtus 5.56 setup is 1:7 twist and has run all sorts of 223 and 5.56 ammo without issue. But prefers the heavier 75g & 77g loads for bench shooting with a scope. Generally, she's a MOA gun with the heavies and 2 to 4 MOA with the lighter 55g ammo.

2013年1月15日 · As for ammo you have a choice of .223REM or 5.56X45 NATO. For just basic shooting, just get what you can get your hands on, but for sniper like accuracy, get some heavy 5.56 or .223 in the 62 grain and up weights. The barrel has a 1:7 Twist rate and therefore is designed to stabilize the flight of a heavier bullet.

2017年2月20日 · 5.56 x 45mm NATO spec ammo is often loaded a bit hotter than .223 Remington, and I suspect this is the reason for the price difference. From my experience, 55 grain .223 Remington shoots as accurately as XM 193 ammo, at least at the ranges I typically shoot at.

2020年11月11日 · If you do use your 300BO mags for your 5.56 gun, and also have some loaded with 300BO ammo, I suggest doing something to give yourself a visual differentiator. Even something as simple as a good tight rubber band around the mag. Or a line of colored tape around it. Something very obvious and intentional.

2012年7月1日 · On my gun the problem was with the feed ramp. It had a rough spot. If I used 223 ammo it would have a failure to feed. However, with 5.56 it would cycle fine I guess the extra power permited it to power on through the rough spot. It didnt matter what seletion the piston was set to with 223 ammo it would fail.

2015年9月12日 · What is anyone's opinion about American Eagle/Federal 5.56mm XM193 ammo compared to Winchester 5.56mm whitebox. I know both are 55grain, but I specifically want top know if it is dirtier and if it is comparable in accuracy? I will be shooting this through my M400 and my SIG516. Any information is appreciated.

Black gun ammo has recently went up on their prices of xm193 from $175 to $229 for 500 round loose pack cans. I'm sitting on plenty of 5.56 ammo at the moment, hopefully it will last until the panic buyers settle down.
