2018年11月17日 · A pair of 6L6s can give you 50 Watts of audio but a single 50L6 in class-A is about 4 Watts audio. 50L6 was made in order to avoid a power transformer in small radios and the price was super bad efficiency. You can not make a power-transformer-less amp that is safe to connect to anything else, not a problem for an AM radio.

2010年8月21日 · FWIW, the 50L6 is a pretty decent tube. Ample power output (better than a 50C5 in most cases) in 120v circuits for a radio. However, they can handle about 200v on the plate and produce around 4 watts of power max. Running them at higher voltages seems to put them in the more linear portion of their curves as well.

2012年1月26日 · It wouldn't take much to make a push pull amp using the same idea for the power supply, just add one 50L6 and another 12AX7 as a phase inverter. Use a Hammond 125C or 125D as an output transformer and connect the speaker where you get the most output.

2015年3月17日 · I'm looking to build a 50L6 push pull amp and want to go with a B+ of close to 200 Vdc so that I get the maximum audio output power from the two tubes. The 25L6 and 12L6 are the same as the 50L6 except heater voltage.

The 50L6 is not "ideal", and we try some other loads for "best" performance and also for attractive data. The G.E. 50L6 datasheet gives 2K for 110V 49mA and 4K for 200V 46mA, for 10% THD and reasonable bias-shift from idle to roar.

2009年4月9日 · Nothing sounds like a pushed single ended amp. The 50L6 can be a fairly nice sounding hifi tube if you employ hifi quality transformers. I've tinkered with a lot of odd ball tubes and very few can't be made to sound good in a hifi application.

2012年11月26日 · It has a 35z5 12SQ7 50L6 typical cheap amp in it with no power transformer. I decided it might be useful as a low-power bedroom/practice/recording amp. I am currently using a 2:1 transformer from another junk donor with a voltage-doubler and just using the 12SQ7 and 50L6 as series-string using the 63VAC before the doubler.

2018年11月17日 · Still trying to find the perfect 50L6 amp for me, I'm having lots of fun with my new breadboard. For now I'm working on a design that was started from a Magnatone model 107 and with this amp I really fell in love. As soon it's done I will post the schematic. When the series resistor is 1/2 the to-ground resistor, grid blocking is minimized.
