Jan 12, 2017 · 568A provides backwards compatibility when connecting two phone lines, 568B for only one phone line. 568B also offers a better prevention of cross talk (interference between the cable pairs). You can use either 568A or 568B, but you HAVE to use the prescribed pairings of the pins: 1 paired with 2, 3 with 6, 4 with 5 and 7 with 8!

Mar 21, 2018 · When you use TIA/EIA-568B on both sides this is a straight through cable. The colors of the inner jackets don't really matter, much the same as it makes no difference to the operation of the network if you use a network cable with a black or yellow outer jacket.
