Running high RPM fans on 5V instead of 12? - AnandTech Forums
2005年6月17日 · But you have to make sure the fan controller you get can do 5V. The Zalman fans tout no motor noise at 5V and still okay stats - 21 cfm, 20dbA. The Vantec Nexus will only do 7V - 12V. The Sunbeam will do 0V - 12V though. You can maybe buy a modded fan lead with a resisitor to step down voltage too - I know they sell 12V to 7V pass-throughs.
Has anyone ever tried to over-volt a fan? - AnandTech Forums
2005年10月9日 · Just buy a fan that spins at a faster speed. By over-volting a fan, you will kill it quickly. And, it won't spin too much faster, depending on the original design (i.e. 1.5x voltage doesn't mean it will spin 1.5x as fast due to certain losses)
Question about fan voltage (12v vs 5v) - AnandTech Forums
2000年10月27日 · Fixing up my fans last night, noticed that they didn't seem to blow fully when they were plugged red-red blk-blk (12-12, gnd-gnd). Noticed that the case fan that came with my case was spliced into yellow (5v?), so moved the 12v (red) to the yellow, and left the blk where it was. Worked much better, seemed to get rated dba and cfm.
What kind of resistors to splice into fan power?
2001年1月17日 · 5V is good to test the fan to make sure it will start at lower voltages. But, 5V is not enough for cooling. At 5V, the fan RPM will be too low. Usually, you can silence a fan by dropping its voltage to 7 to 8V. As mentioned before, dropping the fan RPM has the negative side effect of degrading cooling.
Running case fan with 5V? - AnandTech Forums
2001年11月16日 · Yes, 5V.. not 7V. I read somewhere that you can run a case fan with just 5 volatage and it does not require any moe like 7volts do.. Of course, the fan may not run at all at that voltage. But I'm getting this sunon KD1208PTS3 which is rated at …
3 pin fans: What are the voltages used by the tacho (speed) line?
2017年6月14日 · 2. Both 2-pin 5v Fans (70x70x15 mm) were failing. 3. The only 2 pin 5v fans I could find at that size are too loud. 4. Only quality fans at that size are 12v 3 pin. No worries on the connections: I have pin connector wire that'll do the job just fine. 5. A 12v fan driven at 5v would likely be too slow (if I simply use the red/black wires).
What do I need to slow a case fan voltage down resistor or …
2000年11月7日 · The guys at O/C hideout seem to be able to find the hard way to do anything. I think they may have management potential. 7 volting a fan is a lot easier than that. At the pass thru connectors, push back the locking tabs on the pins for the red 5v wire, remove & set it aside. Do the same for the black wire Y that's the fan ground.
Question Can I run a PC fan with only the yellow and black wires?
2021年6月1日 · If you connect the tach or pwm signal, you can blow out the header or the fan motor especially if you have a faulty ground somewhere. Of course directly connecting to the 12 source will make the fan run full boat. You can use a tach or a rheobus to control voltage. But some fans will also not start spin cycle @5V.
how much power does the laptop fan use? - AnandTech Forums
2002年3月11日 · How much battery time would I lose if I keep the fan on the low setting 24/7 compared to if I just let the compter decide when the fan needs to kick in? I currently get a bit under 4 hours with normal settings. The reason I ask is because the fan doesn't turn on until the laptop gets extremely hot, and this gets very uncomfortable. Thanks.
