2008年12月4日 · My 6.5 Sherman has this design with a .300 neck, which is .020" shorter than the 6.5 SS and it holds approx. 2.5 grains more powder and still has shown good barrel life so I have to assume the 6.5 SS will be AT LEAST as good.

2008年12月4日 · The 6.5 SS was designed to be a TRUE short action with magnum punch. When I say "true short action" I refer to a round that will be able to cycle through a short action mag box with the long VLD style bullets and not have to be seated back into the case.

2018年9月12日 · So, we come to today, with my trusty 6.5 x 284's whose chambers are good for 1,000 rounds or so. I have experienced encounters with larger 6.5 cartridges. I was asked to develop loads for a .264 Winchester magnum custom rifle with a Sako action. This is a 70 grains plus case, compared to a 50 plus grain case capacity of a 6.5 x 284.

I developed this cartridge several years ago when I had toasted the barrel on my 6.5 A.I. I really liked this chambering and killed a lot of game with it including some 25 bull elk.

First of all, it is simply a necked up version of the 6.5 SS which has proven to be a very good performer. Here are a few comparisons between the 7 saum and the SS and what I feel are improvements over the saum. The SS is .075" shorter oal.
